One chain to rule all NFTs

Welcome to this week’s issue of The Baking Sheet – it was a monumental week for Tezos with some industry first announcements and further cementing Tezos becoming the premier chain for NFTs. let’s dive in!
Art Basel x Tezos
Art Basel was a smashing success for Tezos as the exhibition was regarded as one of the most popular features during the week. Here’s a piece on it from TIME
I went to the main convention of Art Basel itself—and inside, you wouldn’t necessarily know about NFT stuff because almost everything was focused on traditional artworks. But the one exception was Tezos, a blockchain platform that had a booth that was extremely popular, with a line of people waiting to get in. They had interactive exhibits and on-site minting [the process of uploading an NFT to the blockchain]. So that was an example of NFTs making a splashy entrance into the physical space of the traditional art world.
Ubisoft x Tezos
Ubisoft announced Ubisoft Quartz, a new platform for players to acquire Digits, the first NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) playable in an AAA game and running on energy-efficient technology. Launching in beta with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Breakpoint on Ubisoft Connect for Windows PC, Digits will be released as part of limited Editions, each composed of a fixed number of cosmetic items.
To operate the first energy-efficient NFTs playable in a AAA game, Ubisoft Quartz leverages Tezos, a blockchain running on a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, using exceedingly less energy to operate than Proof-of-Work blockchains such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
“Our long-term efforts led us to understand how blockchain’s decentralized approach could genuinely make players stakeholders of our games, in a way that is also sustainable for our industry, placing back into their hands the value they generate through the time they spend, the items they buy or the content they create online,” said Nicolas Pouard, VP of Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab. “Ubisoft Quartz is the first building block in our ambitious vision for developing a true metaverse. And it can’t come to life without overcoming blockchain’s early-form limitations for gaming, including scalability and energy consumption.”

Pantone, the global color authority and provider of professional color language standards and digital solutions for the design community, today introduced a new blue shade, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri, a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone as the Pantone Color of the Year selection for 2022.
With the help of Tezos, the energy-efficient blockchain network, Pantone will begin to explore the world of color in the digital art world for Color of the Year 2022. Collaborating with Paris-based multidisciplinary artist, Polygon1993, Pantone and Tezos will leverage these artworks inspired by PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri to create a digital representation of the color and the message that the color embodies - inventiveness, creativity and new ways of thinking about color.

Tezos NFT Feature | GLLRY by Satoshi's Closet
GLLRY by Satoshi’s Closet is a multi-chain, multi-wallet NFT web gallery. Most serious NFT collectors (and creators) are using multiple wallets on multiple chains, which makes it really hard to showcase your collection in a cohesive and thoughtful way. GLLRY solves this problem. Simply enter your public wallet addresses (including by .tez and .eth names) to aggregate your NFTs under a single profile. Fom there you can toggle visibility of individual NFTs, create custom collections and assign your NFTs to one or more collections, and add Creator or Collector Notes to each of your pieces. GLLRY works awesome on mobile, too, so now you have an easy way to show your IRL friends your NFTs without having to bounce around to a half-dozen marketplaces (and without having to show them your actual crypto wallet).
Satoshi’s Closet has been around the blockchain since 2019 and is a 2021 Tezos Foundation grant recipient. The next product from Satoshi’s Closet is WLT, a multi-chain NFT-centric mobile wallet focused on design and usability. Learn more at wlt.satoshiscloset.com.
