Revolutionizing Ticketing: How Get Protocol is disrupting a $77 Billion Industry
NFT ticketing company Get Protocol, recently raised $4.5 million, launching its “Web 2.5” alternative to industry giant Ticketmaster.
Why it matters: As the blockchain-based ticketing sector continues to evolve, Get Protocol's fundraising victory emphasizes the growing role of the Tezos network in the Web 2.5 landscape.
Driving the news: despite operating relatively under the radar, Get Protocol has made notable strides by issuing over 4 million blockchain-based tickets. The company has worked with major artists and comedians, including Ne-Yo, Gucci Mane, Lewis Capaldi, and Louis C.K.
Key Details:
Get Protocol, operating on the Tezos blockchain, raised $4.5 million in a round supported by significant names like the Tezos Foundation.
Over 4 million blockchain-based tickets have been issued by Get Protocol, featuring artists like Ne-Yo, Gucci Mane, Lewis Capaldi, and Louis C.K.
Get Protocol is preparing to revolutionize the ticketing industry, estimated to be worth $77 billion by 2023.
The fundraising is accompanied by a partnership with the Tezos Foundation, with Get Protocol integrating its NFT ticketing solutions with Tezos' upcoming EVM network upgrade.
CEO Maarten Bloemers highlighted the importance of this partnership, dubbing Tezos as the "crypto big brother in the space".
Be smart: Get Protocol's fundraising round was supported by influential names in the crypto space, one of the most significant being the Tezos Foundation. As the company prepares to revolutionize the gatekept ticketing industry - projected to generate $77 billion revenue by 2023 - the role of Tezos' blockchain technology is pivotal.
The unique "Web 2.5" approach by Get Protocol effectively combines traditional systems with blockchain tech, utilizing Tezos to ticket mainstream events "with crypto under the hood."
What they're saying: “It took seven years to know that everything works in order to scale up. We think it’s time to try to grab crypto attention,” Get Protocol CEO Maarten Bloemers told Decrypt.
The big picture: The recent fundraise is accompanied by a partnership with the Tezos Foundation. Get Protocol will integrate its NFT ticketing solutions with Tezos' upcoming EVM network upgrade, further solidifying Tezos' role as Get Protocol's default blockchain.
Bloemers noted that this partnership makes Tezos the "crypto big brother in the space," providing both entities a formidable presence in the rapidly evolving crypto world.
The bottom line: Tezos' partnership with Get Protocol presents a compelling case for the application of blockchain in revamping traditionally gatekept industries. It reaffirms Tezos' commitment to nurturing projects demonstrating the practical applications of its blockchain technology and sets the stage for a more secure, efficient, and transparent ticketing solution.
Fraktion: Democratizing Real Estate Investment via Tokenization
The Big Picture: French platform, Fraktion, is setting out to democratize real estate investment, enabling an entry ticket from just €10. The company does this by tokenizing properties into security tokens. Within 6 to 18 months, Fraktion aims to implement a secondary market and connect with DeFi.
Why It Matters: Real estate tokenization has been hyped since 2015, with little to show for it, according to Florian Freyssenet, founder of TokenLand. Nevertheless, actions are multiplying, as demonstrated by Fraktion's public launch on July 11th.
Key Players: Fraktion works with Tezos, a well-established European blockchain. Vincent Pastor, CEO of Fraktion, cites several factors in choosing this platform, such as its performance, low transaction costs, and the development team's technical expertise.
Key Details:
Fraktion views Tezos as the "best choice" for their tokenization endeavors.
The startup plans to continue development on the Tezos network, including integration of DeFi elements in the next 12-18 months.
Users can start investing with as little as €10, acquiring security tokens tied to property-backed convertible bonds.
Fraktion is working with real estate leasing company, Sezame, and plans to add more partners in the near future.
The company aims to attract a broad range of investors, and plans to offer a secondary market for its tokens within 6 to 18 months.
Looking Ahead: Fraktion aims to open the real estate investment market to investors with lower available capital. The startup is striving to become a kind of OpenSea for real estate, attracting both professionals and individuals with physical properties. The company is also eyeing a secondary market for the tokens, with peer-to-peer transactions in 6 to 8 months and hopes to add a DeFi element within 12 to 18 months.
The Bottom Line: In 2023, Fraktion aims to have €8 million in tokenized assets, equating to 30 to 40 properties. By September, they expect 25 properties to be accessible on their platform. They have set a target of €50 million in tokenization for next year. The company makes money by collecting fees at the issuance of tokens and during certain events. In the long term, on the secondary market, the startup plans to apply "marginal" fees on transactions, "no more than 1 to 1.5% of the token's value".
