The Baking Sheet - Issue #228

Enter SBJKT—a game-changing hub developed within the Tezos art community.

Welcome to another edition of The Baking Sheet! This week, we’re diving into something special that’s set to redefine how collectors experience art on Tezos. Picture this: an all-in-one hub where your favorite artists’ works are just a tap away. Intrigued? Let’s explore.

You Are SBJKT to Be Amazed: A Sneak Peek into Tezos’ Upcoming Platform

Enter SBJKT—a game-changing hub developed by the talented JackTezos and MEK.txt, two familiar names in the Tezos art scene.

Developed by well-known community figures JackTezos and MEK.txt under the doggodog lab banner, SBJKT is currently in a closed beta phase, gathering feedback and fine-tuning its features before opening up to the public. The goal? To provide collectors with a seamless, personalized feed that keeps them updated on their favorite artists’ latest releases, listings, and auctions—all within an intuitive, user-friendly interface.

Why SBJKT Stands Out

Imagine having to check multiple platforms or rely on unpredictable algorithms just to stay informed about your favorite artists’ new works. SBJKT solves this by offering a one-stop experience tailored specifically for collectors. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Real-Time Updates: No more bouncing between tabs or hoping social media doesn’t miss an announcement. With SBJKT, you get a customized timeline that highlights new releases, listings, and auction updates from the artists you follow. All the information you need, right at your fingertips.

  • Push Notifications for Key Moments: Don’t want to miss a drop or auction you’ve been waiting for? SBJKT’s notification system can send tailored alerts directly to your Discord or Telegram, keeping you in the loop on your terms.

  • Customizable Feed: Whether you’re into open editions, one-of-a-kinds, or specific types of auctions, SBJKT lets you set your preferences so that your feed only shows the sales that match your interests. Say goodbye to the clutter and hello to a streamlined collecting experience.

  • Optimized for Mobile: Life doesn’t stop when you leave your desk, and neither should your collecting. SBJKT is designed to deliver a smooth experience on mobile devices, so you can track new releases or make that crucial bid no matter where you are.

What sets SBJKT apart isn’t just the robust set of features but also its simplicity and ease of use. The platform’s user interface is designed to make collecting art more enjoyable and efficient. Browsing, tracking, and staying connected with your favorite artists has never been easier. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just getting started, SBJKT makes it feel like second nature.

The Team Behind SBJKT

SBJKT is the brainchild of JackTezos and MEK.txt, two highly active members of the Tezos art scene who have consistently contributed to its growth through their projects and community involvement. Their combined experience ensures that SBJKT is built with collectors in mind, making it not just a tool but a game-changing resource.

ICYMI: Double Rewards with Tezos’ New Staking Feature

Let’s shift gears to something that benefits every Tezos holder in the ecosystem: staking. With the recent rollout of adaptive issuance following the Paris protocol upgrade, staking is now an option that offers greater returns compared to delegation.

Staking vs. Delegating: What’s the Difference?

While both staking and delegation contribute to the network’s security, they have different implications for users:

  • Reward Factor: Staked funds earn double the rewards of delegated funds (before baker fees).

  • Reward Collection: Rewards from staking are distributed directly by the protocol to your address into your account, while delegated rewards are first distributed to the baker, who must then pass them on.

  • Funds Availability: Your tez remains in your account whether you stake or delegate.

  • Lockup Period: Staking requires a lockup period, meaning your funds will be frozen for 4 cycles (approximately 10 days) if you choose to unstake.

How to Start Staking

Ready to stake your tez? Here’s a quick guide:

  1. Connect Your Wallet: Visit stake.tezos.com and connect your wallet. Supported wallets include Kukai, Temple, Trust Wallet, and Umami Wallet.

  2. Choose Your Baker: If you’re not already delegating, pick a baker that accepts external staking.

  3. Initiate Staking: Enter the amount of tez you wish to stake and confirm the operation in your wallet.

That’s it! Your tez is now staked and ready to earn double rewards.

Keep in mind, unstaking takes approximately 10 days before your funds are fully accessible again.

Governance Watch: The Final Countdown for Qena42

Last thing I wanted to talk about as we wrap up this week’s headlines of The Baking Sheet, it’s time to check in on the latest Tezos governance developments. The Qena42 proposal, which has been in the spotlight over recent weeks, is nearing the end of its voting period. But with just one day left on the clock, it looks like Qena42 might not secure the outcome needed to move forward.

Where Things Stand

At present, participation in the vote stands at 33.13%, falling short of the required quorum. The numbers tell a story: the proposal is also distant from achieving the 80% supermajority needed to advance to the next phase of the governance cycle. This combination makes it highly unlikely that Qena42 will pass, meaning the protocol will most likely reset back to the proposal phase. This was also recommended by Nomadic Labs when discovering a bug in the proposal.

What Comes Next?

So, what happens if Qena42 doesn’t meet the governance criteria? The protocol reset will offer development teams, including Nomadic Labs, Functori, and Trilitech, a chance to digest the community’s feedback and propose a revised version of the Quebec proposal. This is all part of Tezos’ commitment to a transparent, community-driven approach that ensures all voices are heard and taken into account.

While the road may seem winding, it’s worth remembering that these iterations are what make Tezos’ on-chain governance robust and adaptable. Every vote, whether it passes or not, fuels the collective effort to enhance the protocol.

Stay Informed and Participate

For all bakers and community members, your participation is invaluable in shaping the future of Tezos. Keep an eye on Tezos Agora and other updates to stay involved and informed as we head back to the proposal phase. The community’s voice matters, and as we look ahead, there’s sure to be more exciting progress on the horizon.

Until then, let’s keep the spirit of collaboration and conversation alive as we navigate these governance cycles together.

Voting Instructions for Bakers

As the Qena42 proposal moves through Exploration, Bakers can use the following command to cast their votes:

octez-client submit ballot for YOUR_ADDRESS PsQEna427TJJ2dYatjWS12qKihty5huvBDmNHNAgCeTzWCpF673 yay|nay|pass

Follow along on Tezos Agora for real-time updates and further details on Qena42. Bakers’ decisions in this phase will determine if Qena42 becomes the next step in Tezos’ evolution, maintaining the protocol’s commitment to both innovation and integrity.
