"I Own Uranium, Do You?"

As we roll into June, there’s something exciting about the clarity that follows a big moment. With Consensus 2025 wrapped and TezDev less than a month away, this week we’re pausing to spotlight a talk that’s still making waves, Arthur Breitman’s keynote at Consensus. Also on our radar: Apple Farm Episode 6 is now live, and a third announced cohort of Tezos Trailblazers is ready to take the reins.
Let’s dive into what’s stirring across the ecosystem in this week’s edition of The Baking Sheet.

"I Own Uranium, Do You?"
At this year’s Consensus conference, Arthur Breitman took the stage with a bold message printed on his t-shirt: "I own uranium." But this wasn’t just a catchy phrase. It was the entry point to a compelling keynote grounded in practical use cases, regulatory clarity, and live, functioning infrastructure.
Instead of focusing on theoretical promises or speculative visions, Arthur used his time to walk the audience through a real-world demo. He showed, step by step, how anyone can now purchase tokenized uranium oxide on Tezos through a platform called xU308. This isn’t an ETF or a futures contract. It is legal ownership of a physical, regulated commodity, held in secure custody and made accessible 24/7 through Tezos’ Etherlink rollup.
Why Uranium?
Arthur made a clear case for why uranium is the perfect candidate for tokenization. Demand for nuclear energy is rising worldwide, especially as AI infrastructure and global decarbonization targets accelerate. Yet, access to uranium markets remains limited and highly exclusive. Most trades happen over-the-counter with high minimums, often out of reach for individual investors.
“Everyone knows uranium,” Arthur said, “and there’s just no accessible market for it. So let’s create one.”
With xU308, the Tezos ecosystem has created a product that provides direct ownership of uranium, with no asset management fees, no reliance on fund managers, and no speculative layers of abstraction.
The Live Demo: Ownership in Three Simple Steps
During the keynote, Arthur demonstrated just how easy it is to own uranium today:
Visit uranium.io and sign in with your email.
Deposit USDC on Etherlink using Transak.
Purchase uranium oxide in amounts as small as $10.
Ownership is verified on-chain, backed by a regulatory framework involving Archax (an FCA-regulated exchange), Cameco (a licensed uranium custodian), and a trustee structure that ensures legal clarity.
Arthur even noted that those who operate licensed nuclear facilities can request physical delivery.

How xU308 Differs From Traditional Products
Arthur used part of his talk to contrast xU308 with more traditional financial instruments. While ETFs and mining stocks may offer exposure to the uranium market, they do not grant actual ownership of the commodity. These options are also often riddled with volatility, lack transparency, and involve intermediaries.
xU308 is different. It is designed to be transparent, immediate, and verifiable. Ownership records live on Tezos, with instant settlement and full regulatory compliance.
The Role of Etherlink
A central piece of the keynote was Etherlink, Tezos’ high-speed, EVM-compatible Layer 2 rollup. Arthur explained that Etherlink is what makes products like xU308 possible. With sub-second confirmation and finality reached within 16 seconds, Etherlink enables real-time markets with reliable performance.
Unlike many Ethereum rollups, which often rely on centralized multi-signature security councils, Etherlink is built to be non-custodial and decentralized from the outset. Sequencer rotation helps ensure fairness and avoids the centralization risks that plague much of the current rollup landscape.
As Arthur put it, Etherlink is not just another rollup built on Tezos. It is an extension of the Tezos network itself.
A Working Product, Not a Concept

What made Arthur’s keynote especially noteworthy was the fact that none of this was hypothetical. xU308 is a live, functioning product. The infrastructure is already in place. The legal framework is solid. The purchase process is streamlined. And the market is open.
In a space often dominated by overpromises and long roadmaps, this presentation stood out for its clarity, simplicity, and immediacy.
“I own uranium. Do you?” Arthur asked again, with a smile.
It was both a challenge and an invitation to see what Tezos has already accomplished and to try it for yourself.
