Seoul Tracker: Bakers, let's vote for the next Tezos upgrade!

The energy across the Tezos ecosystem this week is hard to miss. Builders are shipping, infrastructure is leveling up, and community creativity is on full display. From a major boost to Etherlink’s RPC layer to the final stretch of voting for the Seoul protocol upgrade in the Exploration phaes, there’s plenty to get excited about and even more to participate in.
Let’s jump into the week’s biggest stories.

Seoul Tracker: Final Week of Voting in the Exploration Phase
With just 7 days remaining in the Promotion Period, the Seoul protocol upgrade is sitting at around 40% quorum, needing roughly 10% more participation to advance to the final phase of on-chain governance. Bakers, if you haven’t cast your vote yet, now’s the time to weigh in.
The Seoul proposal introduces a suite of performance and usability upgrades focused on making staking more accessible, baking more efficient, and the network more scalable.
Here’s a refresher on what’s inside:
Native Multisig Support for tz4 Accounts
Seoul introduces protocol-native support for multisig accounts, enabling secure key management for institutional or group-operated accounts. Built on BLS signatures behind tz4 addresses, this feature is ideal for collectives and custody providers who need shared control without compromising UX.
While it doesn't alter consensus rules, it offers new RPCs and client commands to simplify collaborative signing.
Aggregated Attestations
Seoul allows attestations to be aggregated into a single operation per block, dramatically reducing bandwidth and storage requirements. This means:
Up to 63x less data for bakers (from 900MB/day to 14MB/day)
Lays groundwork for shorter block times
Enables all bakers to attest, improving both security and reward fairness
To participate in aggregation, bakers will need to bake from a tz4 account. Baking with tz1–tz3 is still supported, but only tz4 accounts contribute to aggregated attestations.
Open Unstake Finalization
Unstaking today requires users to finalize their request after a 4-cycle delay manually. Seoul changes that. Once the unbonding period ends, any user or off-chain service can finalize an unstake, simplifying flows for wallets and staking platforms.
Importantly, only the original account can initiate the unstake, and finalization doesn’t touch ownership. It just unlocks the funds into the user’s spendable balance.
A finalizer bot implementation is in the works, giving users a smoother experience while keeping the network decentralized.

Etherlink x Ankr: A New Standard for Tezos Infrastructure
This week, Ankr, one of the most trusted Web3 infrastructure providers, announced full support for Etherlink, delivering a production-grade RPC layer built for high performance and real scale. It’s a major step forward for builders working on Tezos’ high-speed Layer 2.
Etherlink already offers:
Sub-second soft confirmations
Near-zero fees
Robust security via Smart Rollups
Now, with Ankr in the mix, the network gets a globally distributed backend capable of keeping up when traffic spikes and user activity.
Here’s what Ankr brings to the table:
Bare metal RPC nodes deployed globally
Low-latency, high-throughput performance
Full and archive data support for developers
Resilience and uptime, even during peak load
For developers, that means smooth, reliable performance across wallets, apps, games, and DeFi protocols without the usual headaches around infrastructure scaling.
So, if you’re shipping smart contracts or real-time multiplayer game logic, this new RPC stack gives your app the edge, you can start using it today.
This Week in the Tezos Ecosystem
With governance advancing and Etherlink infrastructure hitting new heights, the creative side of the Tezos community is stepping up too, this week brings new opportunities for artists, game developers, and storytellers to put their mark on the ecosystem.

The Tezos Ecosystem Collaborates with Artverse for Paris Photo
The teams in the Tezos ecosystem is continuing its long-running support of digital art by teaming up with Artverse for a group exhibition at Paris Photo, one of the world’s most important art fairs dedicated to photography.
Presented within Paris Photo’s new Digital Sector, this upcoming collaboration will feature a curated show by bygrida, showcasing works from Tezos artists on objkt.one, a platform built specifically for curated and museum-level digital art experiences.
The partnership builds on months of work between Artverse and Tezos teams and reflects a shared commitment to highlighting digital work in traditional art spaces. By bringing blockchain-based photography and new media into the fold at Paris Photo, the collaboration opens doors for more collectors, institutions, and curators to engage with artists working on Tezos.
More details about the exhibition and featured artists will be announced in the lead-up to the event.

Reaper Actual: A Look Inside the Game Changing Everything
Fresh off its debut at TezDev, Reaper Actual continues to draw attention as one of the most ambitious games in development and it’s being built entirely on Tezos.
In a new interview with Defiant, Efe Kucuk (Trilitech) and John Smedley (DPS Games) sat down to talk about what makes Reaper Actual different, and why they believe it could reshape how people think about game worlds, ownership, and player-driven economies.
Reaper Actual is a large-scale open world that blends FPS action with MMO persistence, creating a living battlefield that evolves with its players. From AI-powered missions to base ownership mechanics and a community-first development model, the project is aiming high.
But the real shift is behind the scenes. Built on Etherlink, the game integrates Tezos not just for collectibles, but for meaningful asset ownership and in-game governance. Players will own parts of the world they help shape and not just play in it.

Tezos X-Plained: Tezlink and the Future of Building on L2
Rounding out this week’s news, Arthur Breitman returned with a new installment of Tezos X-Plained, this time highlighting Tezlink, a new approach for developers looking to tap into the performance of Etherlink while keeping close to Tezos Layer 1.
Tezlink lets developers build with familiar L1 languages like Michelson, SmartPy, and jsLIGO, while taking advantage of Etherlink’s speed, liquidity, and EVM-style execution environment. The goal is to create a smooth path between layers without requiring builders to leave behind their existing tools or networks.
Arthur lays out the technical thinking and long-term vision behind Tezlink, showing how it fits into the broader Tezos scaling strategy and why it matters for developers today.
